Features of WMP-VR-R (plus) Fiberglass Facing
Let me introduce our WMP VR-R Plus fiberglass facing: It is a rugged, high-performing insulation facing with excellent vapor retardance. More specifically, its impressive vapor permeability rating is 0.02 perms. In other words, it is fully capable of keeping your structure dry, which is its key purpose!
Now, let’s take a look at what WMP-VR-R Fiberglass Facing is made of: a strong and durable white polypropylene film, reinforced with a tri-directional fiberglass/polyester scrim and a metallized polyester backing. There isn’t much that is going to penetrate this WMP-VR-R Fiberglass facing: It has 40 lbs. pounds per inch in puncture resistance. The metallized polyester backing helps reflect radiant heat for better thermal performance.
The WMP-VR-R fiberglass facing has a rated Class A-1 for fire safety. Additionally, the facing’s high light reflectivity enhances visibility and reduces energy costs.
Comparisons: WMP-VR-R+, WMP-10, WMP-30, and WMP-50
- All four facings provide essentially the same vapor-barrier performance.
- They all fall well below 0.1 perm, which qualifies as a Class I vapor retarder.
- The main differences between them are strength, durability, and facing construction, not vapor control.
Important Clarification
Sometimes people confuse WMP-VR with WMP-VR-R+:
| Facing | Perm Rating |
|---|---|
| WMP-VR | about 0.09 perms |
| WMP-VR-R+ | about 0.02 perms |
So VR-R+ is actually a much stronger vapor barrier than standard VR (Source is Distribution International).

Reinforced fiberglass Roll dimensions
Standard Length: 16′ – 100′.
Standard Width: 4′, 5′, and 6′
Custom cuts shorter than 16′ are an additional cost.
Fiberglass laminator is capable of cutting most requested dimensions; however, the sizes listed above are the most popular and are typically the most cost-effective.
List on thicknesses and related R-values

We recommend tube structures not installed more than 3″if intentions are to sandwich insulation between sheeting and tubs. Likewise, for I-beam steel buildings, 6″ roof and 4″ walls, so that canning (waffling sheeting appearance) won’t take place. If you intend to install within the purlins and girts, these thickness limitations do not apply to I-beam structures.

Five Popular Metal Building Insulation Types:

Fiberglass Insulation after the lamination process.
Fiberglass Blanket with Vapor Barrier
Flexible fiberglass insulation rolls with a vinyl vapor barrier facing. Provides thermal insulation, condensation control, and an attractive finished interior surface.
Spray Foam
Liquid foam sprayed onto surfaces that expands and hardens, creating insulation and air sealing in walls, roofs, and cavities. The reason we promote Fiberglass Blanket with Vapor Barrier over spray foam is that it is expensive, difficult to install, and hard to repair.
Rigid Foam Board
Solid insulation panels made from foam plastic. Installed on walls or roofs to provide continuous thermal insulation. We promote the Fiberglass Blanket with Vapor Barrier over rigid foam board because it requires additional framing and a separate vapor barrier.
Reflective / Bubble Insulation
Thin reflective foil with air bubbles. Reflects radiant heat but provides limited insulation value compared to traditional insulation systems. We promote the Fiberglass Blanket with Vapor Barrier over reflective insulation because of its very low R-value, especially in cold climates.
Insulated Metal Panels (IMP)
Pre-manufactured metal panels with foam insulation cores. Used for walls or roofs to combine structure, insulation, and finished surfaces. We promote the Fiberglass Blanket with Vapor Barrier over insulated metal panels because it is much more expensive than traditional insulation systems.
Why Fiberglass Blanket Insulation Is Best for Metal Buildings
Designed for metal building systems. Provides thermal insulation efficiency, vapor barrier protection, puncture and tear resistance, easy installation over purlins, and the lowest installed cost. It is the ideal insulation for DIY enthusiasts because it cuts and rolls easily.
